HOSPITAL WELCOMES GOLF CARTS TO TRANSPORT ELDERLY PATIENTS

Two six-seater golf carts have been made available for use by George Hospital during the Covid-19 battle. The carts will provide relief to the elderly who have to get to the emergency centre of the hospital after entering the building via the only entrance currently available.

The hospital recently shut all entrances save one so that every person entering the building can be screened for Covid-19. This entrance is far from the emergency centre and for elderly people who walk with difficulty it was a struggle to cover the distance.

It was through Blythe Thompson, main fundraiser for the hospital and a board member, that Fancourt was alerted to the hospital's dilemma and they responded immediately by making the electric carts available at no cost. The carts were delivered last week.

Peter Dros, Fancourt director of sales and marketing, said they will cover maintenance with their usual maintenance team and partners based at Fancourt.  "We have a service level agreement with Club Car who maintain and supply our carts and they will continue to maintain the carts at the hospital on a weekly basis."
